Finishing the Deck

So..... I wasn't as efficient taking the "before" pictures on this project. The first weekend we dug the post holes and the major support structure. On Saturday after attending Janelle's first communion but before visiting Joe, we put in the additional support boards. This is what we started with on Sunday morning.

Dave putting on deck boards, I must say..... he isn't as ashamed of being seen with out his shirt on as he had in earlier posts. Apparently losing that 30+ lbs. helped his self esteem, a bit.

Almost all done, Rickey would like steps added next year but Dave plans on putting them in next weekend.

Janelle's First Communion

Our friend Janelle had her First Communion, the weekend before we went to Maryland for Lauren's First Communion. It is hard enough for me to keep up with the catholic service, but this one was in all Spanish, but Janelle looked beautiful and we were glad to be a part of it.

Dave once again has a project to keep him busy. His friend from work, Rickey, lives on a little lake, or big pond, depending how you see it, but his dock was worn down and un-safe and he asked Dave for some help to re-face it.

So he just keeps watch, just in case they come ashore.

For those of you paying attention: Dave has different clothes on then he did on the pic's above. It isn't a different day..... while working on adding support boards an old one gave way and he fell into the water, and almost took me with him.

The finished project ...... TA DA!!!!!!!!!! Rickey and his wife, Gerie, kept insisting we stop for Easter dinner, but Dave wanted to use every minute of sunlight to make sure it got finished! And we barely made it.

Not to shabby for just one day, next Dave will build a deck and stairs for a gazebo.

HE finally came!!!

Our good friends, Yves and Gercie, finally had their baby and although they thought FOR SURE it was a girl........ precious Sebastian came out and pleasantly surprised the proud parents. Here he is:

New Job

Just wanted to give you an update on my job at Liquid Highway. The best news is that it seems to have become full time. I worked 5 days last week, and I have been asked to work 5 days next week. Plus there is so much to do, I don't think I will be able to only work 3 days for awhile, if ever, which is GREAT!!

My boss Jim, he looks kinda mean but he is SUPER!!!! He reminds me of Dad, they have the same sense of humor.

Good News!!!

As MANY, MANY, MANY, of you DON"T know, I lost my job at the end of December. Well, I just got off the phone and I AM NO LONGER UNEMPLOYED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is part time which is great 'cause to be honest.... I have gotten used to staying home. Just wanted everyone to know!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Laugh if you will, but it is hard for me to read foreign books or books set in foreign lands. I think it has to do with the long words I have never heard of and some how can not get through my thick skull. I believe this why I never got into the Da Vinci Code, to many places I haven't heard of or able to pronounce in my head.

I believe that is why it took me a long time to get into The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (a Swedish novel translated into English), and how easily I had fallen for the chick lit. distraction. But with the pressure of book club meeting looming and my apparent responsibility to lead the discussion, I dove in head first and I am glad I did. It was a great mystery, that had more than its fair share of surprises. I especially cheered for Lisbeth! I must say I am glad I read the book and hope you don't have as thick a skull as me and get to read and enjoy the book as much as I did.

New (to me) Author: Sarah Strohmeyer

So I wanted to get in some lighthearted reading between book club books and discovered an amazing new author. I literally could not put this book down , on the 2nd day of reading I stayed up until 3 am to be able to finish it.

Just a GREAT fun read....



















After reading the Sleeping Beauty Proposal, I found The Cinderella Pact. Same thing happened; I just absolutely fell in love with the characters and couldn't put it down.




THEN I DISCOVERED BUBBLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!




















#1 in the series, Bubbles is a hair dresser who wants to become a newspaper reporter, and surprisingly both to her and those around her does a bang up job at it.

The series is a great bunch of mystery/chick lit reading. The books are light-hearted and fun and I completely recommend them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is one more in the Bubbles series and another title by Strohmeyer..... that I can't wait to read, but first I am going to finish the book club selections!
